Carles tells us that from a very young age he was already passionate about fantasy and history, he grew up in love with films such as Jason and the Argonauts, Willow, La Historia Interminable or any where mythological animals, swords, knights or, even pirates!
Everything changed one summer in his grandparents’ village, when he discovered the Conan comics at the age of ten or so: He was fascinated by the stories, the drawings, the fear… he knew that it was not because of his age and, according to he explains, which is why they fascinated him even more.
Thanks to those comics and others that came later, it was already clear to him as a child that he would either be a cartoonist or a historian, the only professions that really interested him. So after COU he studied illustration at a school in Bellvitge and then Graphic Arts at the JOSO comics school. After a few years a friend came to him with the idea of a card game about different mythologies that fought to control humanity and so he ended up collaborating with Guerra de Mitos, the online magazine of stories Dementia and the board game Noches de Sangre, among other tasks
Carles’ style blows my mind. It has the strength and dynamism of the comic and at the same time is completely conceptual and symbolic, with great attention to detail. Every time I receive one of his illustrations I feel as if a door opens inside me and exactly what I have imagined comes out. Perhaps you too can grasp the power of his drawings.
